Encouraging Words

Yesterday, a mother of a girl who came to Shiloh last year called the office. She had a few questions about this summer’s camps and wanted to request some extra brochures to hand out to friends and other children. She wanted to share a bit of how Shiloh and its ministries have found a special place in her heart.

Her daughter was in 4th grade last year when she came to camp for the first time. Both of the girl’s parents are believers, and they have taught her about Jesus since she was old enough to understand. They thought she had realized her need for a Savior and had placed her faith in Jesus Christ.

When she returned home from camp last summer, she told her mom what had happened: She understood that she was a sinner in need of a Savior. She understood that Jesus died to pay for those sins, and that He was the Son of God sent by God to save those who believe in Him. She understood and believed for the first time at Shiloh. According to her mother, she was completely different when she returned home. Her parents have seen the fruit of her genuine faith in many areas of her life. She even expressed a desire to be baptized and was baptized.

The girl’s mother was also encouraged by the friendships her daughter made while at Shiloh for a week. She said her daughter became friends with one girl in particular, who has become her best friend, and they live in different cities. They communicate regularly and have even spent weekends with each other.

It is so encouraging to hear the stories of how God works at Shiloh! I realize that much of the time I don’t have the opportunity to hear of everything that God does, so when I hear a story like this, I find it a true blessing, and it is a reminder that there are many young lives that are affected in positive ways through His work at Shiloh Bible Camp. What a privilege it is to be part of what God is doing in this camping ministry!
