Mike Barnard

Shoreline Community Church in North Bend, Oregon, is only a few years old, but it already has been influential in the lives of many people. Pastor Mike Barnard, a member of InFaith’s field staff, was instrumental in starting this church, which moved from a temporary meeting place to its own building in November 2010.

The congregation draws many of its members from the Coast Guard, which has a significant presence in the North Bend/Coos Bay area. In addition to pastoring the church, Mike ministers to the servicemen and –women of seven Coast Guard stations as assistant to the District 13 United States Coast Guard chaplain.

A popular ministry at Shoreline is a Bible study that was originally designed to attract “Coasties” in the area. Shortly after the church moved into its own building, Mike wrote of this ministry, “Our Monday night Bible study is exploding with young people. Just today at the coffee shop, I ran into a young girl who had visited the group, and she was planning to be back with her friends next week. We’ve seen this ministry expand beyond military families to college students and young adults.”

Today over 300 people call Shoreline Community Church their home church.
