These rates remained elevated even after returning to pre-pandemic levels, indicating a persistent crisis affecting millions.

Social isolation and loneliness carry serious health consequences. Research shows that social isolation leads to a 50% increased risk of dementia among older adults. Loneliness in seniors is linked to other mental and physical health risks including depression, cardiovascular issues, and premature death.
