Bill and Brenda Bennett serve in Fairview, a very rural area in southwest Missouri. Agriculture, predominately poultry farms and cattle ranches, is the primary industry in the area.
This area is considered part of the “Bible Belt,” and many churches can be seen throughout the local communities. While most residents of this area call themselves Christians, a large portion do not attend church or do not take their faith-walk seriously.
There is a specific need for solid, foundational, biblical teaching that brings about change in lives and leads to service and worship in individuals. Like many other places throughout the United States, people attend church, but the teaching does not translate into life expression.
After seeing the need in their community, the Bennetts began offering solid, Bible-based teaching through Christian camping ministries. “We provide an avenue for people to serve in ministry and a place where children and youth find love, acceptance, and an opportunity to come into relationship with Jesus,” Bill writes.
Currently, Bill and Brenda are focusing their ministry on Ridge Top Bible Camp, a camp they started in 2016 on ninety acres of land in Ridgley, Missouri. Four summer sessions are scheduled for 2017. The camp also offers teen, women's, and men's retreats. As the camp grows, Bill and Brenda ask for prayer that it will reach many people in the Ridgley community with the gospel message.
The Bennetts have served as InFaith field staff since 1985.
Both Bill and Brenda attended Moody Bible Institute and majored in Christian education, Bill with an emphasis on Christian camping and Brenda with a second major in home missions. The Lord prepared them through this educational process, as well as life experience through construction, to participate in camp ministry.
The Bennetts have served in a number of places throughout their time with InFaith, including Galilee Bible Camp in Tennessee, and volunteered at Camp Joy in Oklahoma.
Bill and Brenda were drawn specifically to InFaith because of its diversity and desire to let individuals minister in the area God has called them to.
