Josiah and Marlaina Centeno serve in Camden, New Jersey, an urban area often called “the Invincible City.” Known for its poverty, there’s a great need in Camden for a spiritual awakening, including more ministries focused on those who may never step foot inside a building to hear about Jesus. With very evident examples of addiction, homelessness, and depression, the love of Christ is the only remedy.
After seeing the need in their community, the Centeno’s pioneered with a team from Philadelphia to plant a church in that area. In The Light Camden was birthed to see souls saved and a city changed. Their congregation meets on Sundays and continues to witness people not only turn their hearts to God but live their lives for God.
Josiah writes, "We know that with prayer being our foundation and preaching the gospel our expression, we’ll see lives transformed by the power of Jesus’ love.”
The Centenos have served as InFaith field staff since September 2017. He’s been married to his wife Marlaina since 2006 and they have three amazing children.
Both born and raised in Philadelphia, Josiah grew up a pastor’s son who hated God and the church. With no personal relationship with Jesus, he was surrounded by darkness, depression, and death. However, in 2007, Josiah had an encounter with God that radically transformed his life, and ever since then, he’s never been the same. Currently, Josiah is a full-time minister of the gospel and both a local and international missionary.
