Keith Townsend serves in Mt. Vernon, a Midwestern town of 14,000 in Illinois. Most residents of this area are from low-income families and/or single-parent households. Due to the increasing number of broken homes, there is a need for stability, especially for the local youth.
After seeing the need in his community, Keith became involved in several ministries focused on the local children and youth. One such ministry is through Camp WeWoSeJe (“We Would See Jesus”), a Christian camp in southern Illinois that specializes in providing an affordable camping experience for youth who typically can’t afford to go to camp.
Keith also serves with WWJD Ministries, a small urban church of one hundred people, with more than half teenagers and children. The ministry hosts a number of outreaches for these youth, including kids’ club on Friday nights, children’s church on Sunday mornings, teen Bible studies every other week, and teen weekend retreats each winter. Each ministry attempts to provide a stable, godly influence in the lives of these kids, and provides opportunities for the adults in the congregation to build mentoring relationships with them.
Keith has served as InFaith field staff since 2012.
Keith worked with an InFaith missionary at Bible camp for almost twenty years before joining InFaith. He has a degree from Appalachian Bible College.
