Rocky & Ruth Schmied
- Our Local
- Our Reach
- Our Self
Rocky and Ruth Schmied serve in south central Kansas, where they have lived for twenty years. The area contains many religious communities, but often the churches there hold to tradition more than the Word of God. The greatest need is commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ alone, which led the Schmieds to work to spread the gospel message as area missionaries.
After seeing the need in these Kansas communities, the Schmieds began a number of ministries through the support of local individuals and churches. Rocky has pastored at rural churches from western Kansas to southeastern Kansas. He ministers in a variety of ways, including pulpit fill, music and worship leader, conference speaking, discipleship, hospital and senior care home visitation, and as a hospice chaplain.
The family assists the local church body to grow and become a center for ministry to those in the community because they feel a call and desire to build up the Body of Christ. “People are hungry to know the truth, and scripture states that the truth will set you free,” Rocky writes. His aim is to help people understand this truth by strengthening relationships and showing that he cares for them.
The Schmieds have served as InFaith field staff since 1991.
Rocky and Ruth have five children, three of which are married, and four grandchildren. They have always included their children in the ministry the Lord has called them to. As a result, all of their children have had significant roles in ministry from teenage years to present, going to Ukraine, Los Angeles, New York, and Ontario to participate in camp ministry, VBS outreach, and AWANA programs.
The Schmied family loves to be encouragers and reach the unreached with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
