The Church Planting Pastor will collaborate with Hope Church staff and volunteers to establish a new church, advancing our mission of offering experiences, relationships, and places where people can find life and purpose through Jesus Christ. This role is central to Hope Church's V30 vision of planting two churches in the next six years.

As a Pastor being equipped to plant a church, you will undergo a 6-12 month preparation process at Hope Church. During this time, you will gain experience through mentoring, preaching, pastoral ministry, and leadership development, ensuring you are well-prepared to launch and lead a new church plant as well as assimilate and transition into the new plant community.

Responsibilities

Preparation and Training at Hope Church: 

  • Actively engage in relationships, training, and mentoring provided by Hope Church
  • Serve as the Lodge Host, offering pastoral presence during Sunday services
  • Lead relational ministry efforts within the Hope Church community
  • Build and guide a core team that connects with unchurched individuals in the target community
  • Participate in monthly training with the Missional Pastor and join a Hope Center for Missional Leadership (HCML) growth group alongside other pastors-in-training
  • Form and lead a Sunday morning or evening core group class in preparation for the church plant
  • Collaborate with Hope Church's Church Planting Movement team and Session
  • Develop and communicate the vision for the new church and its core team 

General Pastoral Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in weekly staff devotions
  • Preach as requested
  • Be a visible and welcoming presence in the concourse on Sunday mornings
  • Attend Presbytery and General Assembly meetings, as well as Session meetings as requested
  • Participate in other training opportunities beneficial for church planting
  • Perform additional pastoral duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • A mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Full alignment with the vision, mission, values, theology, and methodology of Hope Church
  • A clear calling to the Gospel and church planting
  • Strong desire to see individuals come to faith in Christ and grow spiritually
  • Positive attitude and an infectious personality

Education & Experience

  • Pastoral or church planting experience (preferred)
  • Exceptional work ethic and dedication to ministry
  • Holds an M.Div degree from an accredited seminary (or is actively pursuing the degree)
