Standish Bible Church is seeking a Pastor to shepherd a rural congregation in Northeast California. This role centers on faithfully preaching and teaching God’s Word, providing pastoral care, and building meaningful relationships within both the church and the surrounding community.
Located in Standish, CA, in Lassen County, the church serves a geographically spread but connected rural population. The area is known for its agricultural roots, outdoor lifestyle, and strong sense of community. While Standish itself is small, the ministry reaches several surrounding towns including Susanville, Janesville, and Litchfield.
The Pastor will lead a multigenerational congregation through discipleship, outreach, and community engagement, while also investing personally in the lives of individuals and families. This role offers the opportunity to minister in a setting where relational connection, authenticity, and community presence are essential.

Pastoral Leadership & Care:
- Preach and teach the Word of God with clarity and faithfulness
- Devote time to study, preparation, and prayer
- Provide biblical counseling and spiritual guidance
- Conduct visitations (homes, hospital, jail, and community)
- Officiate weddings and funerals, including premarital counseling
Congregational & Community Engagement:
- Build strong, personal relationships within the church body
- Engage in the daily life of the community (hospitality, shared activities, presence)
- Participate in and support church events and ministries
- Lead and encourage outreach into the surrounding rural communities
Ministry Development & Discipleship:
- Support and oversee existing ministries such as Awana, youth, and Bible studies
- Participate in community outreach initiatives, including summer evangelistic programs
- Equip and disciple individuals for service and leadership
- Encourage and develop new ministry opportunities as led by gifting and vision
General Pastoral Responsibilities:
- Maintain a close and growing walk with the Lord
- Collaborate with church leadership and board members
- Be accessible and responsive to congregational needs
- Balance ministry responsibilities with personal and family health
- A mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
- A clear calling to pastoral ministry, particularly in a rural context
- A love for God, family, and people
- Commitment to the authority and teaching of Scripture
- Strong ability in preaching, teaching, and biblical application
- Training in hermeneutics and expository preaching
- Relational, approachable, and community-minded
- Willingness to engage in a hands-on, outdoors-oriented lifestyle
- Ability to disciple and mentor others
- A heart for evangelism and community outreach
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Biblical training (Bible college, institute, or seminary) strongly preferred
- 1–2 years of ministry experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Life and work experience outside of full-time ministry is highly valued
Standish Bible Church is located in a rural, working-class region of Northern California where residents are engaged in agriculture, government service, and trades. The area offers a unique blend of mountain and desert landscapes and attracts both families and retirees.
Compensation includes salary, housing allowance, and ministry mileage reimbursement. Full community services, including healthcare, are available in nearby Susanville.
