ARCHER GLEN BASUEL (CH MAJ) ARMY
Archer is currently serving as battalion chaplain for the 100th Battalion 442nd Infantry Regiment at Fort Shafter, Honolulu, HI and previously served the 411th Engineer Battalion in Fort Shaffer, Honolulu, under the 9th Mission Support Command. Archer was born in the Philippines, where he grew up in a Christian home. He received Jesus as his personal Savior at the age of thirteen and surrendered to the ministry at the age of twenty after graduating from college with a political science degree. Archer enrolled at Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary and completed his M.Div. in 1991. Upon graduation, he accepted the call to join the pastoral staff of Tuguegarao Baptist Church in the Philippines. He was commissioned by his church to do church planting and missions with the Luzon Convention of Southern Baptist Churches in the Philippines and with other local and global mission organizations. In February 2005, Archer felt the call to move to the U.S. and become the senior pastor of Maui Philippine Baptist Church in Maui, Hawaii, where he served until 2011. He is currently serving as the senior pastor of Village Park Baptist Church in Waipahu, Hawaii. The decision to pursue the army chaplaincy is driven with a purpose of serving God through ministry to individuals who are willing to offer their lives for the sake of others. Archer believes that God's kingdom should be strengthened even in the fields of the U.S. Armed Forces. Soldiers, as peacemakers, need constant encouragement to be always at peace with God in order to be more efficient in their service to country and fellow men. He is married to Melanie and they have 2 children.
