On April 7, 2025, Betty Glover—a devoted missionary, mentor, and faithful servant of Christ—celebrates 100 years of life and over 70 years of ministry. Her impact on rural communities, especially in the Appalachian region, has been immeasurable.
In May 1958, Betty—a single registered nurse in her thirties—moved to the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee to serve as a missionary. The coal mines had recently shut down, leaving families in desperate poverty.

Betty and fellow InFaith missionary Mildred Clark spent their days traveling to remote homes, bringing:
At night, they led Bible studies in homes and small country churches. During the school year, they taught Bible lessons in one-room schoolhouses.
Summers were especially impactful as Betty dedicated herself to Camp Galilee, a Bible camp where children from the mountains could experience Christian fellowship, outdoor fun, and the life-changing power of the gospel.
At Camp Galilee, children who had never left their mountain homes got to:
For many, it was the first time they truly experienced the love of Christ.
Looking back, Betty says the greatest lesson she learned was:
“Complete confidence in the Lord.”
Whenever she didn’t know what to do, “the Lord just provided whoever I needed.”
Though officially retired from InFaith for 20 years, Betty continued to teach Bible stories using flannelgraph and ministered in a local retirement home—where many residents are 20 years younger than her—until recently!
