Jonathan Shour

Jonathan Shour (CH LT) NAVY

Lieutenant Jonathan Shour, a native of North Idaho, serves as Chaplain aboard the USS COLE (DDG 67), an Arleigh Burke–class guided missile destroyer homeported in Norfolk, Virginia.

He began his military career in 2005 with the U.S. Air Force as a Korean Cryptologic Linguist before pursuing a call to ministry. He holds a B.A. in Ministry in Counseling for Christian Ministries from Nazarene Bible College and a Master of Divinity from Multnomah Biblical Seminary.

Commissioned as a Chaplain Candidate in 2014, Chaplain Shour served as an Air Force Chaplain before transferring to the Navy Chaplain Corps in 2021. His previous assignments include Malmstrom AFB (MT), Aviano AB (Italy), Goodfellow AFB (TX), and Camp Lejeune (NC). He has deployed in support of Operations Cobalt Shield, Prosperity Guardian, the Southern Border Mission, and the Global War on Terror.
