Katie serves as a Hospice chaplain at Liberty HomeCare and Hospice in Thomasville, North Carolina. Her calling to the chaplaincy involves a commitment to person-centered care, and she has been privileged to journey with people amid life’s transitions as a loving presence, spiritually encouraging them to use their faith to cope and move forward. She attends to people with wide-ranging losses and helps them negotiate the varied expressions and stages of grief. She walks alongside family members as their loved ones transition through different changes in their life, as well as supporting staff caregivers at the various facilities and her fellow Hospice team members who tirelessly care for residents/patients. She helps residents/patients and their family members turn toward faith for comfort, peace, and meaning at end of life and provides compassionate spiritual support and counseling in accordance with the resident/patient’s identified belief system. Katie completed a Master of Divinity degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Gardner-Webb University in May 2012 and was ordained in August 2014 by the Peoples Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, North Carolina “as investment markers on her call.” Katie writes, “Chaplaincy is my heart, and it is my desire to dedicate my life to this service while honoring the life and mission of Jesus Christ.” Katie is married to Josh and they have a son, Ayden.
