Matthew Hoffman

BAYLOR, SCOTT AND WHITE MEDICAL CENTER Matthew serves as the Director of Faith in Action Initiatives at Baylor, Scott and White Medical Center in Texas. Faith in Action Initiatives was started “to maximize its impact locally and worldwide by providing employees spiritual development, volunteer opportunities and prioritizing the wide array of partnership/support opportunities in order to invest system resources wisely, avoid waste and duplication of efforts.” Matthew has over thirty years of pastoral care experience as a church planter, pastor, and hospital chaplain. Matthew received a B.S. in social sciences from the University of Houston in 1996 and an M.A. in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2000. Matthew aided in the founding of the palliative care program at BSW, launched and managed a comprehensive hospital-wide bereavement care program, launched and facilitated a successful community-wide cancer support group, served as an oncology chaplain for a 400+ bed hospital, served on the hospital's interdisciplinary executive cancer committee, and is experienced in organizational management and administrative development.
