Bob Kerr

Bob Kerr serves in the Rio Grande Valley of south Texas, with an estimated population of 1.3 million in a number of small towns and rural areas. Much of the population consists of “winter Texans” living in the community from October through March each year.

The highest percentage of residents in these communities are of Hispanic descent, with second, third, and fourth generation Hispanic families. Most speak a mixture of Spanish and English. There is a great need in the local churches to merge these two cultures and languages to reach the older generations, who prefer to be taught in Spanish, and the younger generations, who prefer to be taught in English. Churches must find a way to meet the needs of the whole family unit.

After seeing the need in his community, Bob began a number of ministries. He leads a Sunday morning service and weekly grief share study in the Casa del Valley mobile home park from the first Sunday in November through the last Sunday in March. He is considered the “pastor” of the park, a role that includes making hospital visits and doing one-on-one counseling and evangelism. “We offer the teaching of God’s Word to the people throughout our community,” Bob explains.

From the middle of August to the beginning of May, Bob teaches at Rio Grande Bible College. The school is set up to give a Bible education and train leaders for global outreach throughout the Spanish-speaking world. Most students come from Mexico, Central or South America, and about sixteen countries are represented at the college. Many of the students return to their home country to serve the Lord, while others hope to serve as missionaries around the world.

Bob has served as InFaith field staff since 1994.

Bob ministered with his wife, Rachel, for many years before she went to be with the Lord in September of 2013. They spent over twenty-five years with New Tribes Mission, spending the better part of seventeen years in Paraguay, South America.

After joining InFaith, the Kerrs came to the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, and Bob continues to serve there to this day.
