Conant Carr serves in the high desert of southern New Mexico and west Texas. Conant works exclusively with law enforcement officers, their families, and support personnel as a chaplain. While these officers often have a keen sense of spirituality due to the severity of the job, many are open to the Truth of God, found in His Word.

The law enforcement community is seen as a long-neglected people group. Day to day, officers face a host of critical incidents that can severely affect them personally if internalized. In order to protect themselves on the job, officers are inherently suspicious, which can prevent them from having many friends outside of the law enforcement community. They are almost never going to venture into a church, so in order to reach them, one must enter their world. That is costly but can yield much fruit.

After seeing the need for ministry to this community, Conant began ministering to officers and their families in New Mexico and Texas. For the past 33 years, he has served as a chaplain to federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

Conant provides practical help to officers who face troubling incidents daily through personal relationships cultivated over many years. After five years of serving as a chaplain to law enforcement, he became an officer himself in an effort to better identify with the community he serves.

In addition to one-on-one ministry, Conant is the president of the New Mexico State Crisis Support Team. The Team provides crisis intervention to all first responders (fire, EMS, and law enforcement) after they encounter difficult calls, such as the need to use deadly force, the injury or death of children, child abuse, or co-worker injury, death, or suicide.

Conant has served as InFaith field staff since 1983.

Conant has been serving as a law enforcement chaplain for 33 years. He graduated from the Sheriff’s Academy 29 years ago in an effort to better relate to the officers he serves. An officer’s call to serve is spoken of in Romans 13, and Conant reaches this important community with the hope of The Lord Jesus. Apart from him, there is no hope.
