Local Reach

Dave and Lisa Carroll serve in Elliston, Montana, and several other rural agricultural and ranching communities. Residents of these areas are hard-working blue-collar types, and many are self-employed in construction or ranching and farming. Most are lower-middle to middle class in income and lifestyle. There is a mix of religious backgrounds among residents; some are Catholic, some have left the Mormon church, and many have never been in a church setting before.

This area needs to experience the love of Jesus through the ups and downs of life. Developing a real sense of community and genuine Christian fellowship is a priority, and helping residents work through interpersonal problems while maintaining fellowship and community takes a lot of time.

After seeing the need in their community, the Carrolls began several ministries to reach residents of all ages, ethnicities, and economic statuses. Some of their ministries include Bible clubs for kids, adult Bible studies, Vacation Bible School, prison ministry, one week of Bible camp, youth group, and one-on-one ministry with local young men. Dave also serves as pastor at the Community Bible Church of Lincoln in Lincoln, MT.

In order to reach further into surrounding communities, Dave and Lisa work with six churches, the Salvation Army, and an evangelist from Arkansas who brings his horse ministry to their community once a year.

Dave and Lisa make it a priority to be present in the community. They open their home for social gatherings, organize resources to assist others with practical chores, provide meals for some of their Bible studies and ministries, and provide pastoral care and fundraising when crisis hits a family in their community.

The Carrolls have served as InFaith field staff since 2001.

Dave has a Master of Ministry degree and a B.S. in Forest Management. He worked for twenty-eight years with the United States Forest Service. Lisa has an Associate degree in Forestry. They have five adult sons and one daughter in high school. Lisa home-schooled their children for seven years, and she is a cancer survivor.

The Carrolls came to InFaith after benefiting from one of the mission’s rural ministries early in their marriage. Dave and Lisa were active in rural ministry in Oregon and Idaho for years, and helped plant a church in North Fork, Idaho in the early 1990s.
