David & Lucinda Lewis

David and Lucinda desire to invest in the leaders of the camps that serve largely youth from cities. Their primary reach has been as camp directors for many years. They know the struggle and the tyranny of the urgent that keeps leaders from having time for important matters. These leaders, often of small camps, need extended time of prayer, fasting, Bible reading, and hearing from God. Therefore, they continue helping camp leaders find time for personal refreshment, dreaming, and vision casting the ministry. David understands the unique challenge of the Urban Camp ministry and wants to be a resource for the camps they serve.

Urban campers are often youth of color living in a single-parent, grandparent, or other relatives’ home. They are from many different backgrounds, lifestyles, incomes, incarcerated parent(s), and religious and non-religious backgrounds.

A fellow missionary told them about InFaith. Looking at the website, David and Lucinda wanted to be a part of this mission because of their shared view of ministry. InFaith started serving kids in the workhouse before child labor laws, served Native Americans, and had an African American missionary in the 1800s. Further, with InFaith’s diverse board and staff, David and Lucinda saw their alignment with InFaith’s values.

David and Lucinda Lewis have been field staff with InFaith since 2023.

Growing up in Christian homes, David and Lucinda attended and worked at summer camps. After graduating with a Christian Education degree (David) and an AA degree (Lucinda) from Summit Univerity, they were married. Later, with Lucinda’s support, David earned a Master’s in Religious Education with an emphasis on camping from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. They have six children and nine grandchildren.
