Larry and Kathy Bennett serve in Yakima, Washington. The county jail in Yakima houses around eight hundred inmates at one time. Larry works with those inmates who desire to make significant changes in their lives. While some inmates have a broad background in “religion”, many have never read the Bible or understood the true message of hope and love found in the gospel. Larry works with the Yakima Department of Corrections chaplains where there are five classes a week.

Larry's purpose is to reach those unreached in the county correctional system. After seeing the need in their community, Larry felt called to serve as a chaplain to prisoners and inmates in the Yakima County Department of Corrections. He also has correspondence with inmates at several state and federal institutions, and disciples men who have been incarcerated and want to take on their own ministries. The program is expanding soon to include more inmates in life-changing classes.

Larry manages the Faith Principles Unit, a biblically-based, 24/7, structured program for men who desire to make lifestyle changes. He works one-on-one with inmates, speaks to them in groups, teaches classes, and uses videos to communicate truth with each man in the unit. Since Larry began volunteering in the prison in 1986, he has changed the program to make it easier for men with little education or spiritual training to understand and relate to the message of forgiveness he conveys.

Outside of the prison ministry, the Bennetts also visit small congregations to provide encouragement.

The Bennetts have served as InFaith field staff since 1982.

With Kathy, Larry's wife of 54 years, being in memory care, he spends ministry time with those in the care facility.
