The Smiths are deeply committed to building relationships with Spanish-speaking communities, which include individuals from diverse countries such as Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Bolivia. These communities are often composed of hardworking families from a range of economic backgrounds, typically spanning lower to middle income levels. While Roman Catholicism is the predominant religious tradition, the Smiths aim to introduce Biblical truths and foster a deeper understanding of the Gospel.

Rod and Kathleen’s ministry serves as a vital bridge between Spanish-speaking and English-speaking communities. They provide robust Biblical leadership training in Spanish, coupled with discipleship and mentoring. Evangelism remains a core focus as they work to bring new souls to Christ.

There is a significant need for teaching and leadership development grounded in solid Biblical doctrine. Many English-speaking churches in transition require guidance in passing the baton of ministry to the next generation, which often includes incorporating Hispanic ministries into their congregations.

Rod and Kathleen Smith rejoined InFaith as missionary candidates in 2025. They are graduates of The Master’s Seminary (Class of 1998) and previously served as missionaries in Spain. During their time in ministry, they planted a church in Antelope Valley, California, and helped their current church develop its Spanish ministry.

The Smiths were drawn back to InFaith because of its ministry opportunities, strong doctrinal foundation, and servant leadership culture, where they feel a true sense of family.
