Church Planting

Yenner and Alice Wuanti minister in Illinois and Iowa to immigrants from Liberia, West Africa who were forced to flee their war-ravished homeland. The Wuantis do church planting and development. These churches present Jesus to refugees as the only hope of inner peace, providing a path to forgiveness and reconciliation. Ministries through the church include weekly Bible studies, congregational services, and a youth ministry that focuses on reaching youth through Scripture memory and discipleship programs using the Hip-Hop arts. They have currently planted five churches. In addition to these church plants, Yenner and Alice started Women Empowering Women in 2015 as a ministry geared towards empowering Liberian women. Courses in basic computer knowledge, micro business skills, home care, and food preservation are taught.

Local Reach

Yenner and Alice Wuanti serve in urban areas throughout Illinois and Iowa. The areas host large communities of African refugees, forced to flee their war-ravished homeland. Many are factory laborers and caretakers in local nursing homes.

These communities still suffer from the spiritual and psychological wounds that come from seeing the effects of war. There is a great need for sound biblical teaching that can lead to the healing of these wounds.

After seeing the need in their community, the Wuantis began ministering to immigrants from Liberia, West Africa through church planting and development.

Yenner and Alice hope to see churches planted throughout Illinois, Iowa, and Indiana that bring the gospel to Liberian refugees. Currently they have planted two churches in Illinois (Wheaton and Rock Island) and three churches in Iowa (Waterloo, Muscatine, and Cedar Rapids).

In addition to these church plants, Yenner and Alice started Women Empowering Women (WEW) in 2015 as a ministry geared towards empowering Liberian women. The goal of WEW is to encourage these women to be self-sufficient and strive towards being better Christian wives and mothers. Courses in basic computer knowledge, micro business skills, home care, and food preservation are taught.

The Wuantis have served as InFaith associates since 2008.

Yenner and Alice come from Liberia, and served their community there for eleven years before relocating to the United States. Yenner graduated from Westminster in 2003.

The Wuantis have five children, and currently reside in Illinois.
