We need an innovative and people-centered individual or couple to bring the light of the gospel to the people of Eastern Kentucky. For over 75 years, local missionaries have run a summer camp called Youth Haven Bible Camp (YHBC), filled the pulpit in many rural churches, overseen youth recreational facilities and operations, and conducted various evangelistic and discipleship-oriented outreaches.
This position involves leading and overseeing the team of missionaries that make up Kentucky Mountain Mission, as well as overseeing the operations of the organization. The General Director is responsible for reporting to the Board, networking, raising funds for the organization, recruiting missionaries for the organization, and shepherding existing missionaries. While he is not the operations manager of any particular branch of the missionary work (such as the camp, the rec centers, or the churches), he oversees each umbrella of ministry.
The active camp and mission headquarters are located in Lee County, KY. Lee County is in a rural, mountainous setting that was badly affected by the collapse of the coal industry in the mid-twentieth century. It is a socioeconomically disadvantaged area filled with at-risk youth and broken families that need the gospel of Jesus Christ.
