The Hope of Jesus Christ

November 2022

My dad passed away this week.

I got the call from my sister on Monday morning, my dad died. He had been a lifelong smoker who developed lung cancer that had already progressed to stage four by the time it was diagnosed. The last week of his life, he was in hospice care and his deteriorating condition was my first thought and prayer every morning. Now that he has passed, I thank God that the suffering from his physical maladies is concluded. I am so grateful to the Lord during times like these. Believers do not mourn as those who have no hope. Instead, we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him (1 Thes. 4:13-14). Apart from knowing Jesus Christ, life is just a long and arduous race to a grave and it is not surprising that, in the words of Henry David Thoreau, “The mass of men live lives of quiet desperation.” The mission of InFaith since its inception over 200 years ago is to bring the light and hope of the gospel to the dark and hopeless places (and people) in our country.

Jesus Christ gives us the only way to face the unmistakable and unavoidable realities of this life. Even more importantly, Jesus Christ is the only way to eternal life. As a result, we do not lose heart and, on the contrary, even in times of death and disorientation, we share the hope of Jesus Christ. We should always be prepared to “give an answer” for the hope that dwells within us. At InFaith, we share that hope in hundreds of ways every day. Have you considered sharing the hope of the gospel through InFaith? You can join our team as a prayer partner, missionary, bi-vocational missionary, donor, or volunteer. Visit our website at InFaith.org and find the best way for you to get involved. The first Tuesday after Thanksgiving is called “Giving Tuesday.” Visit https://infaith.org/give to find a mission that would be meaningful for you to support. The General Fund supports missionary care, training and raising up new missionaries to bring the gospel to the overlooked and underserved in the United States.

People need a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He is the only one who can save your soul for eternity and save your life right now. Will you be part of His mission?
