About 18 months ago, InFaith Missionary Connie Lyn Ediger wrote that God’s holiness, sovereignty, love, and faithfulness are not measured by life’s ups and downs, but by His character.
Since she wrote those words, Connie has been experiencing that reality through a journey with pancreatic cancer.
“I thank God for my pancreatic cancer because it has given me opportunities to share the gospel and glorify Christ,” she told us. These are her words from March 2022:
I have often heard how people get mad at God or stop believing in Him or turn away from Him because of terrible things happening, such as a loved one getting sick or dying, or they were hurt by a Christian or church, abuse, losing a job, social problems, etc. But they are using the wrong measuring stick.
The reality of God’s Existence—His Holiness, His Sovereignty, His Love, and His Faithfulness—is NOT measured by life’s ups and downs, or by what people say or do. Life’s circumstances, rather good or bad, extreme or minor, or understood (or liked) by me or not, do NOT change WHO GOD IS, or limit His Love and Faithfulness! God is still God! His character NEVER changes!
May I keep my eyes focused on the Unchanging Author and Finisher of my faith (Hebrews 12:1-3), and not on my own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6)!
