Emily Mitchell’s Candidate Story: Career to Full-Time Ministry
“I was in line for the next big step at my job, but I knew I wanted to serve God in a different way.”
So how does someone transition from a career to serving in full-time ministry?
Emily continued to work at her job full time for about a year while she was raising funds to become a missionary with InFaith. “If the Lord is leading me in this,” Emily said. “He’s going to do it. He’s going to be the one that’s going to accomplish it. And my job is to trust Him.” Emily now works in full-time ministry, providing emotional and spiritual support for women and children in the shelter system in Philadelphia.
“I have ladies tell me they were praying that someone would come to them. I’ve walked with ladies through the death of loved ones. I’ve been in delivery rooms. I’ve had the privilege of helping ladies move out of toxic or unsafe situations and get them into a more safe living space,” Emily says. “I’m so thankful to be able to go into certain situations – some of them very dark – and bring with me the light and the grace of Christ. And show people that they’re not alone, that God sees them, and that He really cares about them.”
