We need an innovative and people-centered individual or couple to bring the light of the gospel to the youth of Eastern Kentucky. For over 75 years, local missionaries have run a summer camp called Youth Haven Bible Camp (YHBC) that has impacted the lives of rural youth, ages 8‑18. They have also overseen a two-week special needs camp ministry for all ages.
The Camp Program Director will work under the Camp Director to run the day-to-day programming for the camp session. They will plan camp activities and programming and supervise the summer team of Junior Staff. They will handle minor disputes with campers and ensure that campers and staff are being where they need to be and doing what they need to be doing throughout the weeks of camp.
The Camp Director will spend the rest of the year helping with grounds and maintenance responsibilities at the camp, working under the Camp Director to conduct occasional retreats, and preferably assisting local church youth ministries and starting new outreach programs. This role will allow the right individual to build on the work of an established ministry, while enjoying the freedom to apply their unique gifts and skills to reach into the lives of often overlooked youth.
Youth Haven Bible Camp is located in Lee County, KY. Lee County is in a rural, mountainous setting that was badly affected by the collapse of the coal industry in the mid-twentieth century. It is a socioeconomically disadvantaged area filled with at-risk youth and broken families that need the gospel of Jesus Christ.
