Do you have a heart for shepherding God's people, teaching His Word, and building meaningful relationships within a close-knit rural community?
George Community Church in Clackamas County, Oregon, is seeking a part-time missionary pastor to provide biblical leadership, pastoral care, and encouragement to its congregation while helping strengthen the church's presence in the surrounding community.
This nondenominational, Bible-believing church has a long history of serving the George community and desires a pastor who will lead with humility, spiritual maturity, and a genuine love for people.
This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys personal relationships, values biblical discipleship, and is passionate about helping a small church grow in faith, fellowship, and community impact.
About the Ministry
Founded in 1969 in an old schoolhouse, George Community Church has faithfully served its rural community for more than five decades. In 1981, the congregation moved into its current church building, creating a dedicated space for worship, fellowship, and outreach.
Located approximately 20 minutes from Estacada and Sandy, Oregon, the church serves a scenic rural area with approximately 300 homes along an eight-mile community loop.
The congregation reported approximately 25 members, along with additional regular attendees, in 2021. Its members span multiple generations, creating a family-like environment where relationships and personal connections are central to church life.
George Community Church offers Sunday worship services, communion, women's Bible studies, men's study breakfasts, Sunday School, and community activities such as harvest parties, picnics, and Vacation Bible School.
The church desires to continue building on this foundation by strengthening its congregation, welcoming new families, and sharing the love of Christ with its neighbors.
The missionary pastor will provide spiritual leadership and pastoral care while actively participating in the life of the church and surrounding community.
Responsibilities include:
- Preaching and teaching God's Word clearly, accurately, and in ways that encourage spiritual growth and practical application.
- Shepherding the congregation through prayer, discipleship, encouragement, and biblical guidance.
- Providing compassionate pastoral care, including counseling, visitation, and support during life's joys and challenges.
- Building meaningful relationships with church members across a wide range of ages and backgrounds.
- Encouraging unity, fellowship, and healthy relationships within the congregation.
- Participating in and supporting church ministries, including Bible studies, Sunday School, and community gatherings.
- Developing relationships with individuals and families throughout the George community.
- Encouraging outreach efforts that invite new people into the life of the church.
- Working alongside church members to strengthen existing ministries and identify future opportunities for service.
- Demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to serve in a variety of capacities within a small-church environment.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, a strong commitment to biblical truth, and a servant-hearted approach to pastoral ministry.
Candidates should demonstrate:
- A personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and a consistent Christian witness.
- Spiritual maturity demonstrated through prayer, Scripture study, and Christlike character.
- A solid understanding of the Bible and the ability to communicate its teachings clearly and faithfully.
- A genuine calling to shepherd, encourage, and disciple believers.
- Humility, compassion, and a willingness to lead through service rather than authority alone.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with individuals across multiple generations.
- Wisdom and grace in navigating relationships, providing counsel, and resolving conflict.
- A willingness to serve in a small congregation where ministry responsibilities may vary.
- A passion for community engagement, evangelism, and strengthening the local church.
- Agreement with George Community Church's Statement of Faith and applicable InFaith ministry qualifications.
